We cut these barrel pants from a medium-weight corduroy that holds warmth in cooler weather. The high rise sits on a gathered elastic waistband anchored by a drawcord. Down the leg, the ribbed ridges give structure to the curved shape, which tapers slightly above the shoe. Two deep pockets sit flat at the front.

• Barrel leg shape. The cut curves out through the thigh and knee, then narrows slightly toward the hem. This shape keeps the volume away from your ankles while giving you room to move.
• Corduroy fabric. We use a soft ribbed corduroy with enough weight to hold its shape through the winter months. The light army green shade settles into the ribs, giving the fabric a muted depth.
