We cut these with an arched outer seam that widens through the thigh and curves back toward the ankle. The ribbed corduroy holds enough structure to keep the barrel profile round rather than limp. An elasticated waistband sits high, backed by a drawstring you can tie to set the position.

• Barrel leg shape. The volume curves out wide at the knee and tapers gently before the hem. That round arch keeps the hem from dragging while giving the leg plenty of space inside.
• Ribbed corduroy weight. We chose a medium-weight corduroy with defined vertical ribs. It holds heat for cold mornings, bends easily without stiffness, and softens up across regular machine wash cycles.
• Waistband and tie. A wide elastic channel sits high on the waist so the rise stays put. We added an adjustable drawstring through the front casing to let you cinch the waist as needed.
• Pockets and wash. Two deep front patch pockets sit flat against the hip and carry what you need. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle and dry flat in the shade to preserve the pile.
