We cut these barrel pants from ribbed corduroy with moderate thickness and a soft hand. The high rise gathers into a wide elastic waistband secured by an adjustable drawstring. The leg bows outward through the thigh and tapers slightly before the hem, holding warmth without hugging the calves. Deep front pockets sit flat against the hip.

• Barrel leg shape. The pattern bows outward through the thigh and knee, then settles inward toward the lower hem. This gives the pants structural volume without dragging on the floor, while the ribbed wales run vertically down the entire length.
• High elastic waistband. We set a broad elastic band high on the waist and threaded it with a self-fabric drawstring. You can cinch it tight or let it rest lower on the hips without losing the relaxed drape through the seat.
