We cut these shorts wide through the leg so warm air moves right through. The high rise sits on a wide band of shirred elastic that holds without digging. Green and white yarn-dyed checks give the lightweight fabric a clean, crisp surface that softens with each wash.

• Shirred high waistband. The wide waistband is gathered in close rows of elastic stitching. It pulls on easily, distributes tension across the middle, and stays flat against the skin without rolling down.
• Leg cut and volume. We gave the legs a wide opening so the hem hangs clear of the thighs. The loose profile lets the fabric drape naturally rather than cling when the temperature climbs.
