We cut these summer shorts wide through the leg so air moves freely. A tall smocked band sits high on the waist, gathered to pull on without hardware. The woven plaid mixes muted bean paste pink with soft white across a light, washed yardage.

  • Smocked high waistband. We gathered the top into a broad panel of elastic thread that rests flat against the waist. It gives when you sit and stays put without drawstrings or zips.
  • Wide cut leg. The legs drop straight and loose from the hip down to a turned hem. Extra room around the thigh keeps the fabric from catching when you walk.
  • Bean paste plaid. The small-scale gingham grid weaves an earthy pink tone through off-white yarns. The pattern is woven directly into the cloth rather than printed on top, so the colours stay true.
  • Fabric and laundering. We blended lightweight linen with lyocell to give the weave a softer hand and a gentle drape. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, then line dry or tumble dry low.
