We cut these loose through the thigh and hip, with extra yardage gathered into the waistband so the fabric falls away from the body. The barrel shape curves outward along the outer seam and settles over the ankle. The yellow mum print scatters small floral heads across a light base.

• Elastic drawstring waistband. We gathered the top block on a wide elastic band and threaded a flat tie through the channel. You pull the cord to set where the rise sits on your hips.
