We cut these lantern pants from a lightweight linen blend printed in black and white polka dots. The waist pulls on with functional front ties, while the volume gathers back in above the ankle with rows of ruffled lace. Side pockets sit deep along the hips.

• Gathered lace hem. The lower leg gathers in toward the calf, finished with tiered lace ruffles. The trim gives weight to the hem so the lantern shape holds its rounded curve while you walk.
