We cut these lantern pants with generous width through the thigh before pulling the volume back in at the calf. The linen blend is light and open, printed in a muted beige-and-black dot pattern. Tiered ruffles and lace bands finish the hem so the leg gathers without clinging.

  • Tiered lace hem. The lower leg gathers into gathered tiers edged with flat lace and a ruffle edge. This construction gives the hem weight to hold its lantern shape above the ankle.
  • Drawstring waist. We set an elastic channel through the waist and added front tie straps. You pull the cord to set the rise where you want it, high or low on the hips.
  • Linen blend cloth. The fabric weaves linen with soft utility fibres to keep the yardage light. It lets air through, softens after a rinse, and carries the small dot print cleanly.
  • Care and wash. Wash on a gentle cycle or by hand in cool water. Tumble dry on low or hang flat to dry, then press with a warm iron if you prefer fewer wrinkles.
