We cut these winter trousers with a rounded barrel leg that curves out through the calf before tapering toward the hem. The corduroy holds warmth while remaining soft and flexible through the seat. An elastic waist with a functional drawstring keeps the fit easy across the hips.

• Barrel leg shape. The pattern arcs outward below the knee to create volume through the leg and then tucks back slightly at the ankle. This shape gives heavy corduroy room to move without dragging on the ground.
• Drawstring waistband. We set a broad band of elastic at the waist and threaded it with a matching cord. You can cinch it tight or let it sit loose, so the rise stays right where you place it.
• Deep side pockets. The pockets sit along the side seams and drop deep enough for cold hands or a phone. We anchored the pocket bags into the waistband to stop them from sagging under weight.
• Corduroy wash care. Wash these cold on a gentle cycle or by hand to keep the raised ribs of the fabric soft. Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry, and skip the bleach so the warm brown print stays clear.
