We cut these corduroy trousers with a soft barrel leg that bows out through the thigh and tapers slightly toward the ankle. The ribbed cotton holds warmth for colder months without feeling stiff. A gathered elastic waistband with a flat drawstring keeps the fit easy through the middle.

• Corduroy rib. The cotton corduroy has a soft, raised wale that traps warmth and breaks in with wear. It drapes with enough weight to hold the rounded leg line without collapsing against the calf.
• Barrel leg shape. Volume sits through the outer thigh and knee, curving outward before pulling in slightly at the hem. It leaves ample room through the seat and thighs so nothing binds when you sit.
• Drawstring waistband. We built an elastic waist casing that pulls straight on and stays put. An exterior drawstring lets you adjust the hold across the hips without adding bulk under sweaters or jackets.
