A rounded barrel leg cut from a light linen and rayon weave. The water blue and white check breaks up the wide silhouette, while front pleat seams pull the fullness away from the waistband. We left the ankle loose enough to clear the top of a low shoe.

Barrel leg shape. The pattern arcs out through the mid-thigh before tapering gently toward the ankle. Front tucked pleating sets the volume forward, so the side seams hang straight instead of winging out.
Waistband and cord. An elastic channel runs the full circumference of the waist, backed by a matching fabric drawstring. You can pull the knot tight for a higher rise or let it sit across the hips.
Dropped pouch pockets. We set deep patch pockets below the waistband line to keep the hip smooth. The open pockets sit flat against the leg panel and carry small daily essentials without sagging down the outer seam.
Linen wash care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cool or lukewarm water, or wash by hand. Hang the trousers to air dry away from heat, and smooth the plaid weave with a warm steam iron while the fabric is slightly damp.
