We cut these trousers from midweight ribbed corduroy that holds warmth and falls straight down from the hip. The high rise settles on an elastic band with an integrated drawstring so the waist stays put without binding. Dark coffee is a deep roasted brown that pairs well with heavy knits or light button-downs.

• Elastic drawstring waist. The waistband combines internal elastic with an adjustable front tie. It pulls on easily, rests high above the hips, and stays flat against the middle when you sit.
• Straight wide leg. We kept the leg wide and parallel from the upper thigh down to the floor. The open hem provides plenty of clearance around winter boots without stacking or catching.
• Ribbed corduroy cloth. The wales in this corduroy add texture and trap warmth between the ridges. The cloth carries enough body to keep its clean vertical lines instead of clinging to the leg.
• Dark coffee shade. A deep roasted brown with warm undertones across the ridges of the fabric. Wash inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle, then line dry to protect the pile.
