We cut these loose palazzo trousers from a light linen blend woven in a crisp green and white check. The elastic waist adjusts with a self drawstring, dropping straight down into a wide leg. At the ankles, we gathered the hem into a gentle ruffle that moves as you walk.

Elastic waist and drawstring. A wide band of casing holds the gathered elastic flat against the waist. We ran a matching cord through the center so you can adjust the pull, leaving the rise loose underneath.
Wide palazzo leg. The cut stays roomy through the hips and thighs, then falls straight down to the ankle without tapering. The open linen weave lets air pass through, giving the fabric a natural, easy drape.
Ruffle cuff hem. Instead of a plain turned hem, we gathered extra cloth into a low ruffle along each cuff. The detail gives weight to the bottom of the trouser leg and keeps the hem swinging.
Green check care. Hand wash or use a gentle cycle with cool water to keep the gingham pattern crisp and reduce hard creasing. Line dry on a hanger and press with a steam iron while slightly damp.
