We cut these loose palazzo trousers with a wide leg that falls straight from the hip and finishes in a gathered ruffle hem. The linen-blend weave holds its shape while venting warm air. An elastic waistband with an adjustable drawstring keeps the high rise anchored without pinching. Deep side pockets sit flat along the seams.

• Dark gray gingham. A clean dark gray and white plaid woven directly into the linen blend. The yarn-dyed pattern retains its contrast after washing, and the fabric softens with wear without losing its crisp drape across the leg.
• Ruffle cuffs. The hem breaks at the ankle with a gathered ruffle band. Adding this gathered panel gives the lower cuff extra weight, which helps the wide leg swing clear of your shoes as you walk.
• Drawstring waistband. We set a broad elastic band into the high waist and ran a matching tie cord through the front. It stays put when you sit, and you can cinch the drawcord tighter for a closer fit.
