We cut these trousers in a soft ribbed corduroy that holds warmth through cooler months. The leg curves outward through the thigh and narrows toward the ankle, keeping the volume off the floor. An elastic waist with a thick cotton rope drawstring secures the top.

• Barrel leg shape. The horseshoe cut arcs wide around the knee and tapers in slightly at the hem. It creates a loose, rounded drape that moves easily without dragging under your shoes.
• Corduroy fabric. Ribbed wales give the cloth body and surface texture while trapping warmth against autumn chill. The fabric softens with wear and holds its deep jujube red tone through routine washing.
• Elastic drawstring waistband. We set a wide elastic band at the high waist and ran a thick cotton cord through the channel. You can knot it loosely or pull it snug.
• Cargo patch pockets. Deep utility pockets sit flat on the front thighs, stitched down at the corners so they do not gap. They give your hands a place to rest without pulling on the waistband.
