We cut these brown trousers with a distinct barrel leg that bows wide through the thigh and draws inward at the hem. The ribbed corduroy holds warmth for cold weather without stiffening up. A gathered elastic waistband anchors the high rise, tied with a heavy cotton rope cord.

• Barrel leg silhouette. The leg curves out wide around the knee and tapers toward the ankle. This horseshoe shape keeps fabric away from the skin while preventing the hem from dragging on the ground.
