A checkered board print in black and beige gives these wide pants their visual weight. We set the waist high on an elastic channel with an exterior cord, then dropped the crotch slightly into a loose harem barrel that curves wide through the thigh and calves. Two side pockets sit along the hip seams.

• Board print and weave. The black and beige checkerboard pattern is woven into a light linen blend that breaks in soft after washing. The fabric hangs straight down without clinging, venting warm air through an open weave.
• High drawstring waist. We gathered the top over a wide elastic band and threaded an external drawstring through the front. It sits high on the waist, holding securely without pressing into the midsection as you sit or walk.
