We cut these palazzo pants with plenty of room through the thigh and a straight fall to the hem. The twill flange distressed print gives the black coffee base a broken-in tone. An elastic band with an adjustable drawstring anchors the rise so the wide legs can hang free.

• Leg cut and volume. The legs drop wide from the high hip without tapering. The linen blend holds its shape while venting heat, giving you a full palazzo sweep that stays clear of the skin when you walk.
• Elastic drawstring waistband. We gathered the waist on a broad elastic casing and added an exterior cord. You can set the rise where it sits best, while the gathered back keeps the seat from pulling when you sit.
• Deep side pockets. Two inset pockets sit along the side seams. We stitched the pocket bags deep enough to hold a phone and keys without dragging the waistband down or altering the line of the hip.
• Washing and fabric care. Wash by hand or on a gentle cold cycle with like colours. Hang them on a line to dry and press with a low-temperature iron while still damp if you want to smooth the linen weave.
