We cut these with plenty of ease through the hips and thighs so the fabric falls away from the body. The leg opens wide before settling toward the hem, giving you the room of a palazzo trouser with the dropped volume of a harem pant. The lake blue weave softens after its first wash.

• Elastic drawstring waist. The waistband houses a wide band of elastic backed by a flat fabric tie. You can pull the drawcord snug to anchor the rise high or leave it slack to sit lower on the hips.
• Lake blue linen blend. We chose a midweight linen blend that allows air to move through the open weave. The lake blue dye gives a steady, cool tone across the slubbed surface, which develops natural creases as you move.
• Deep dropped pockets. Two deep side pockets sit low along the outer leg seams. They are anchored into the construction so carrying keys or a phone does not pull the wide leg out of shape.
• Cold water care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cool water or wash by hand. Hang the pants up to dry out of direct sunlight, then use a warm steam iron to smooth out the deeper wrinkles.
