We cut these sweatpants with a wide, curved barrel leg that tapers slightly near the ankle. Soft cotton-blend knit holds the curved shape without clinging. Along the outer side seams, we set panels of fine lace trim against solid black fabric.

• Curved barrel leg. The leg bows outward through the calf and tapers toward the hem. This shape keeps the knit fabric away from the knees and gives the sweatpants room to move without dragging on the ground.
• Lace side trim. We stitched bands of openwork lace flat along the outer leg seams. The detail runs down the length of the pant, breaking up the heavy black fleece with a lighter texture.
• Drawstring waistband. The waist gathers on a wide internal elastic band with an exterior pull cord. It sits flat across the hips and stays in place without pinching when you sit down.
• Deep side pockets. Two inset pockets sit right along the side seams ahead of the lace trim. They are deep enough to hold keys or a phone without pulling the waistband down.
