We cut these everyday trousers from a sturdy corduroy in dusty gray and bowed the leg out wide through the calf. Contrast plaid knee panels break the line and hold the curved shape. An elastic high waist with a flat drawcord keeps the top easy while the hems taper in toward the ankle.

• Barrel leg cut. The leg curves out wide below the hip and tapers slightly at the hem. This shape creates volume around the lower leg that stays clear of your shoes without dragging on the pavement.
