These casual pants start with a high rise and a ribbed black corduroy that holds warmth. We curved the outer seam to build a loose barrel shape through the knee before tapering toward the ankle. Plaid patchwork panels add weight across the front leg so the trousers keep their volume while you walk.

• Curved barrel leg. We shaped the outer leg seam to bow out around the knee and pull in slightly near the hem. This gives the pants a relaxed, rounded volume without dragging along the ground.
• Plaid knee panels. Contrasting checkered patches run across the knee area to reinforce the front leg. The extra fabric layer gives structure to the curve and breaks up the solid black corduroy.
• Elastic waist and drawstring. A wide elastic band sits high on the waist so the pants stay up without binding. We threaded a matching cord through the channel so you can adjust the gather.
• Corduroy fabric and care. The ribbed wale corduroy brings a soft, heavy hand that blocks cold drafts. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, turn the trousers inside out to protect the nap, and line dry.
