We cut these track pants with a rounded barrel leg that curves out through the calf before tapering toward the ankle. The fleece knit has enough weight to hold that bowed line while staying soft against the skin. An elastic drawstring waist keeps the rise steady through long wear.

• Barrel leg shape. The pattern arcs out past the knee and pulls back in at the ankle. That extra volume sits away from the leg, and the slanted hem gives the bottom edge a clean finish above sneakers or flat shoes.
• Cotton blend fleece. We chose a cotton and polyester sweatshirt knit with a brushed interior. The face is smooth, the inside holds warmth for cooler days, and the fabric resists stretching out at the seat.
• Elastic drawstring waistband. The wide waistband holds flat elastic reinforced with an adjustable drawcord. It sits high without pinching when you sit down, and the knot stays tied through a full day of movement.
• Side pocket construction. Two deep slash pockets sit along the side seams. We stitched the pocket bags flat to the interior front panels so they carry keys and a phone without adding bulk across the hip.
