A wide palazzo leg gives this pair plenty of room through the thigh and hem. We cut them in a woven stripe of black and khaki that runs straight down the leg. The smocked band stays put without biting, and a matching fabric cord lets you cinch the waist.

• Smocked drawstring waist. Gathered elastic creates a soft smocked band that sits flat against the waist. We ran an adjustable self-fabric drawstring through the center so you can adjust the fit as the linen relaxes through the day.
• Wide palazzo leg. The leg opens right below the hip and drops straight down to a wide, ungathered hem. It lets heat out and moves freely with your stride, giving the linen blend room to drape naturally.
• Ruffled side pockets. Two deep side pockets are sewn into the front panels to hold small items. A small self-fabric ruffle borders each opening, adding a textured edge along the hip line.
