We cut these trousers with an open palazzo leg that lets air move around the ankles. The purple blue cloth is a light linen blend with a visible weave that softens as it washes. A wide smocked waistband and ruffled pocket openings give the top edge soft structure without pinching.

• Smocked drawstring waist. The waistband gathers multiple rows of fine elastic topped with a flat cord drawstring. It rests flat against the hips and stays put without binding when you sit.
