We cut these loose through the thigh and calf, borrowing the lantern shape that widens through the leg before gathering back toward the bottom. The black linen blend hangs with natural weight and wrinkles down into a soft wash. Flat lace trims run across the inset pockets and around each cropped hem.

• Gathered waist and cord. An elastic channel circles the top so the waistband sits flat without pinching. A matching drawcord ties at the front to anchor the rise where you choose.
• Lantern leg cut. The leg curves out past the knee and pulls inward before the ankle. It leaves plenty of room through the seat and vents heat through the loose weave.
• Lace trim details. We stitched narrow openwork lace along the slant pocket openings and around both leg hems. The contrast in texture sits flat against the dyed black fabric.
• Linen care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cool water or wash by hand. Hang the pants to dry so the linen resets its shape, and use steam if you want to clear deep creases.
