We cut these with broad volume through the thigh and calf, then gather the fabric back at the elastic ankles to form a lantern shape. The high waist combines an elastic band with a flat drawstring. It stays put without binding. In light apricot, the linen blend hangs with an easy, relaxed drape.

• Gathered balloon leg. The legs balloon wide through the middle and draw inward at the bottom hem with soft elastic cuffs. This keeps the hem off the ground while letting the linen hang loose through the leg.
• High drawstring waist. An elastic channel wraps the high rise and adjusts with an exposed front drawstring. The subtle pleats below the band give the hip room to move without adding stiff bulk.
• Linen blend cloth. We chose a lightweight linen blend for this cut to let warm air pass through freely. The cloth softens with wear and takes on the natural, rumpled texture typical of plain weave linen.
• Cold water care. Machine wash cold with similar colors and skip the bleach. Line dry in the shade to protect the apricot tint, or tumble dry low and shake out while still slightly damp.
