We cut these palazzo pants loose through the leg from a lightweight linen blend in red-and-white check. The waistband pulls on with wide elastic, and the ankles finish with a narrow band of white lace. Two deep side pockets sit flat along the seams.

• Leg cut and lace hem. The legs fall straight and wide from the hips without tapering. A band of white lace trims the bottom hem, giving the wide opening enough structure to move cleanly when you walk.
• Woven gingham blend. We chose a light linen blend that lets air pass through while staying soft against the skin. The red-and-white plaid is woven into the cloth, softening naturally with wash and wear.
