Textured mid gray corduroy gives these pants enough structure to hold their rounded barrel shape through the leg. We set plaid panels down the sides to break up the ribs. An elastic waistband with a flat drawstring keeps the top block simple and soft against the waist.

• Curved barrel leg. The leg arcs out from the hip and tapers slightly back toward the ankle. This loose curve keeps the corduroy away from the knees and lets the fabric hold its own shape as you walk.
• Plaid side panels. We pieced woven plaid panels along the outer leg seams. The flat pattern contrasts with the vertical corduroy wales and anchors the mid gray tone.
