We cut these barrel pants from ribbed corduroy in a neutral khaki tone and set plaid panels down the outer seams. The high rise sits on a gathered elastic band with an adjustable drawstring. You get deep side pockets and volume through the calf that tapers back in at the ankle.

• Barrel leg cut. The leg curves out from the hip down through the knee before tapering slightly at the lower hem. This keeps the ribbed corduroy away from the shins while holding a rounded shape that settles over shoes.
• Plaid patchwork panels. We inset woven plaid fabric along the outer leg seams to contrast the solid khaki corduroy. The seams are stitched flat inside so the panels hang clean without pulling at the side pockets.
