We cut these barrel trousers from ribbed corduroy in a deep wine shade. The leg bows outward through the knee before tapering toward the ankle, keeping the volume away from your shoes. A pull-on waistband stays put without hardware.

• Ribbed corduroy cloth. The ridged wales hold warmth for cold mornings while giving the wide leg structure. It falls straight, resists hard creasing, and softens after a few cycles through the laundry.
• Bowed barrel shape. We widened the outer seam through the thigh and calf to build a slouchy curve. The hem tapers back in so the cuffs clear the ground when you walk.
• Plaid utility pockets. Deep plaid patch pockets sit flat on the outer leg seams, reinforced with small metal rivets at the stress corners. They hold keys and a phone without dragging down the side seams.
