We cut these slouchy trousers from a medium-weight ribbed corduroy that holds warmth through cold months. The wide leg bows out along the outer seam and tapers slightly toward the ankle. Plaid utility pockets anchor both hips, fixed with corner rivets so they lie flat against the wale.

• Curved barrel leg. The outer seam curves outward through the calf before tapering back in above the shoe. That arc keeps the leg wide and loose without letting the hem drag across the pavement.
• Plaid utility pockets. Large side pockets are cut from contrasting plaid cloth and stitched down the thigh. Small metal rivets secure the upper corners against daily wear, giving your hands plenty of room to rest.
• Elastic drawcord waist. The waistband gathers with internal elastic and threads a matching cord through the front. It pulls tight when you want it higher or settles loose on the hip bone without pinching.
