We cut these slouchy barrel trousers from medium-weight ribbed corduroy that holds warmth for cold weather. The legs bow outward through the knee and tuck back in slightly near the hem. Plaid patchwork cargo pockets on the sides give the dark coffee base extra texture.

• Ribbed corduroy cloth. The ridged corduroy has enough body to hold its curved shape away from the legs. It softens with wear while keeping the chill out through late autumn and winter.
• Elastic drawstring waist. We gathered the top on wide elastic and threaded a working cord through the front. The waistband sits flat without pinching and lets you adjust the rise as needed.
