We cut these loose trousers from a midweight ribbed corduroy that holds heat through cooler weather. The barrel leg curves outward through the thigh and tapers slightly toward the hem, giving you room without dragging. An elastic band with an exterior drawstring sets the rise right where you pull it.

• Barrel leg cut. The wide leg bows out gently at the knee and settles back inward toward the bottom hem. That shape keeps the hem off wet pavement while leaving the thigh completely unpinned.
• Elastic and cord waist. A wide elastic waistband gathers the top block and stays flat under sweaters. We added an exterior drawstring cord so you can adjust the tension as you move.
• Four utility pockets. Two deep side pockets sit at the hip, matched with two lower cargo patches set flat against the outer leg. They carry keys and a phone without breaking the line.
