A wide palazzo leg gives this pair its stride. We set open crochet lace into the outer side seams and dyed the linen blend in dark coffee, a deep earthy brown that softens after the first wash. The waist pulls tight with a self fabric drawstring.

• Crochet side panels. An openwork lace band runs down each outer seam from hip to hem. It breaks up the dark coffee linen and vents heat along the outer leg without pulling at the side seam.
• Drawstring waist band. We built the waist with an enclosed elastic band and a matching front cord. You pull it as snug as needed so the wide leg hangs straight from the hip without sliding.
• Front patch pockets. Two deep patch pockets sit flat on the front hips. We stitched them square across the top so small items stay put when you walk or sit down.
• Linen blend care. Wash cold on a gentle cycle or by hand, then hang them on a line to dry. The linen blend relaxes as it dries. Use a steam iron if you want the leg panels pressed flat.
