We cut these palazzo trousers with an open leg that falls straight from a high, gathered waist. The red and white plaid is woven into a light linen blend that softens after washing. Diagonal striped cuffs finish the wide hems at the base.

• Elastic waistband and tie. The high rise is anchored by an elastic band that gathers the cloth evenly. An adjustable front tie lets you set the tension across the hips without adding bulk to the front seam.
