We cut this lounge pant from a lightweight knit that drapes without clinging. The barrel leg curves outward through the mid-calf before drawing back in at the hem. It pulls on easily over the hips with a flat, gathered elastic band.

• Barrel leg cut. The volume starts wide through the thigh and balloons out through the knee before tapering at the ankle. This shape leaves plenty of room to move and keeps the fabric from dragging underfoot.
• Striped knit fabric. The gray and black horizontal lines run across a soft, flexible knit cloth. It has enough substance to hold the rounded leg profile while staying light against the skin during cooler days.
• Elastic pull-on waist. We used an enclosed elastic band that sits flat against the waist. It stretches easily when you pull them on and stays in place without drawstrings, buttons, or metal hardware to press in.
• Cold water care. Wash this pair in cold water with similar colors to keep the dark stripes crisp. Tumble dry on low heat or hang them up to air-dry so the knit keeps its shape.
