We cut these black trousers from ridged corduroy that holds warmth while keeping an easy drape through cool weather. The high waistband leads into front pleats and a relaxed taper down the leg. Plaid fabric lines the turned-up cuffs at the hem.

• Corduroy cloth. The ridged weave gives the black fabric structure without making the legs stiff. It traps warmth for cool days and softens with regular machine washing.
• Waist and pleats. A high rise sits comfortably above the hips. We pressed pleats below the front waistband to give the seat and thighs extra room to move.
• Tapered leg shape. The cut stays loose through the upper leg, then angles inward toward the ankle. This creates the harem taper without bunching up extra fabric.
• Pockets and cuffs. Side pockets sit flat along the seams for small items. At the base, we finished the cuffs with plaid roll-ups that hold their fold.
