We cut these pants with a curved barrel leg that bows outward through the calf and pulls back in above the shoe. The woven green and white check gives the light linen blend a clear grid without stiffening the drape. An elastic waistband with a flat drawstring anchors the high rise.

• Barrel leg cut. The pattern arcs out from the hip down through the knee, then tapers inward toward the ankle. This shape keeps the hem off the ground while giving your legs plenty of room to move.
• Drawstring waistband. We gathered the top edge with an elastic band and threaded a self-fabric cord through the channel. You pull it tight to set your own fit at the natural waist.
• Deep side pockets. Two open slash pockets sit right along the side seams. We cut them deep enough to hold a wallet or a large phone without pulling the hips out of square.
