We cut these pull-on shorts with a high rise and an open leg that clears the thigh. The smocked waistband stretches wide and recovers without pinching. Slanted side pockets sit flat against the hip in lightweight, woven waterblue stripe.

• Smocked elastic waistband. A gathered band of shirring sits high on the waist. It distributes tension across several rows of elastic so the shorts stay up without cutting in or bunching heavily.
• Open leg cut. The leg opening is cut wide through the thigh to let air move through. It finishes with a clean turned hem that holds its shape through regular washings.
