We cut these hot-weather shorts with a high rise and a shirred elastic waistband that sits flat without binding. The fabric is a light lyocell and linen blend that vents heat and softens through washing. We added deep side pockets and kept the leg wide for easy airflow.

  • Shirred elastic waist. The high waistband uses multi-row smocking to spread tension evenly across your middle. It pulls on easily and stays put without a separate drawstring cord.
  • Leg shape and hem. We gave the leg a roomy opening so the hem hangs clear of your thighs. The cut stays loose when you sit, letting warm air move freely out the bottom.
  • Deep side pockets. The two pockets sit along the side seams and drop deep enough for a phone or keys. Because the cut is loose, full pockets hang away from the front.
  • Wash and care. Wash cold on a gentle cycle to protect the smocked stitching and the woven stripe. Line dry or tumble low, then shake them out while still slightly damp.
