We cut these barrel trousers in black corduroy with ribs that trap warmth for fall and winter. The waistband uses a stretchy ribbed knit that folds over flat against the hips. Down the leg, the outer seam bows out around the knee and tapers in at the ankle.

• Fold over waistband. The wide ribbed waistband stretches easily and folds down over the top edge of the corduroy. It sits flat without a drawstring, buttons, or metal hardware to press into your waist.
• Curved barrel leg. We bow the side seams outward through the mid-thigh and knee before drawing the cuff back inward at the hem. That gives you room across the leg while keeping the ankle neat over boots.
• Black ribbed corduroy. The wales run vertically down the cloth, catching the light and holding heat when the weather turns cold. The black dye saturates the pile completely, and the fabric softens up with repeated washing.
