We cut these harem pants from soft, textured corduroy in solid black for cold-weather wear. The silhouette relies on a low dropped crotch and generous width through the thigh. A gathered elastic waist pulls on without hardware, while side slits at the cropped hem keep the volume moving cleanly around the ankle.

• Gathered elastic waist. The wide elastic band sits flat against the waist and gathers the heavy corduroy evenly into the hips. It pulls on easily and stays in place without drawstrings or buttons.
• Harem leg shape. We cut the seat low and wide before tapering slightly down the leg. The dropped crotch leaves plenty of room through the seat and thighs, creating a relaxed drape that never binds.
