Vertical black and white stripes run the full length of this wide-leg cut. We set the top on a wide smocked waistband that gathers the fabric without pinching, then let the leg fall straight down. Panels of open lace break the stripe pattern, and deep side splits open up the lower hem as you step.

• Smocked elastic waistband. A tall band of elastic thread holds the high rise securely at the waist without digging. The gathers release fabric evenly around the hips, giving the palazzo shape plenty of room to drape.
• Striped weave and lace. Vertical black and white stripes lengthen the line of the trousers. We set bands of open lace into the fabric, adding variation across the leg while letting heat vent through the open weave.
• Split palazzo hem. The leg keeps a full, wide profile straight down to the ankle. Side slits at the lower seam let the hem flare open with each step so the fabric moves freely around your feet.
