We cut these wide-leg palazzo pants from a lightweight plain-weave linen dyed in lake blue. The high side slits open up the lower leg, while the rounded hem lets the fabric swing freely with each step. An elastic waistband with a matching drawcord anchors the generous cut right where you want it.

• Slit rounded hem. The outer side seams open into high slits above a curved hem. This opening lets warm air move through the wide cut and allows the linen panels to move like a skirt without pulling at the hips.
• Elastic drawstring waist. We gathered the top onto a wide elastic band and threaded a self-fabric cord through the front. It rests flat against the waist, holds firm when the pockets are full, and adjusts with a quick knot.
