We cut these wide palazzo pants from a lightweight linen blend woven in a clean yellow and white check. The elastic waist sits high and pulls on without hardware. Down at the bottom, a strip of white lace trims the wide hem and gives the fabric a little extra weight to hang straight.

• Elastic high waistband. We set a wide elastic band at the top so the trousers pull on easily and rest at the natural waist. It gathers the checked fabric evenly around the hips without pinching or bunching.
• Wide leg with lace. The legs drop straight and full from the hip to the floor. Along the bottom edge, we stitched a band of white lace that catches the light and adds enough substance to keep the hem from curling.
• Deep side pockets. Two deep slash pockets sit into the side seams. They drop low enough to hold a phone or a ring of keys without pulling the front panels out of line when you walk.
• Linen blend care. Wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang them up to dry. Skip the machine dryer to protect the lace trim. A warm steam iron takes out packing folds and softens the weave after a wash.
