We cut these trousers wide through the thigh and cropped above the ankle to keep the hem clear of footwear. The white linen blend is light, open, and woven to let warm air pass straight through. An elastic casing anchored by a flat drawcord sets the fit at the waist without binding.

Ruffle hem cut. The lower leg finishes with a gathered flounce hem stitched across a patchwork horizontal seam. This added panel weights the bottom edge, helping the wide leg hang open rather than collapsing in against the shin.
Elastic and cord waist. We gathered the top edge over a wide internal elastic band and ran an adjustable drawcord through the center. You pull the cord to reset the waist placement higher or lower on the hip without gathering bulk.
Linen blend weave. We used a lightweight linen blend woven in plain white. The yarn brings standard linen texture and slight slubbing that softens after washing, while remaining sturdy enough to support the gathered ruffle hem.
Washing and line drying. Machine wash cold or warm up to lukewarm water on a gentle cycle, or wash by hand. Hang them on a line to dry naturally. Avoid bleach and keep them out of the tumble dryer to preserve the drape.
