We cut these wide trousers from medium-weight ribbed corduroy that holds warmth when the weather turns cold. The high rise settles naturally at the waist above shallow front pleats that release extra room through the thigh. At the bottom, a turned cuff shows a contrast plaid lining.

• Wide leg and pleats. Shallow front pleats open below the waistband to give the baggy leg its volume. The cut falls straight and wide to the floor without tapering at the knee, leaving space to walk and sit without pulling.
• Turned plaid cuff. We finished the wide hem with a contrast plaid fabric on the underside. Turn the cuffs up to show the pattern against the brown corduroy ribs, or leave them long over winter boots.
