We cut these cold-weather pants from medium-weight corduroy with a visible rib that traps warmth. The leg bows outward through the thigh and calf before narrowing at the ankle, shaped by vertical panel seams. An elastic waist with an adjustable cord keeps the top secure without pinching.

Barrel leg shape. Panels curve the leg out through the knee and draw it back in at the ankle. The cut keeps its rounded volume because the ribbed cloth has enough body to stand away from the leg.
Drawstring elastic waist. We gathered the top onto a wide elastic band and ran a flat tie through the channel. You pull it snug at your natural waist or let it rest lower on the hips.
Cargo pocket setup. Patch pockets sit flat along the outer leg seams for storage without extra bulk. Deep side pockets are set into the upper waist seam so hands drop in easily.
Washing and care. Wash cold on a gentle cycle to protect the raised cord pile from flattening. Hang them dry or run on low heat, and skip the bleach so the dusty gray tone stays steady.
