We cut these barrel trousers from a lightweight dark gray corduroy that holds gentle warmth without feeling stiff. The legs curve wide through the calf and taper slightly at the hem. Double white tape runs down the outer seams to set off the dark ribbed fabric.

• Elastic back waist. We set an elastic band across the back waist and kept the front flat with a button closure. The band stretches when you sit and keeps the trousers anchored without squeezing.
• Barrel leg shape. The legs arc out wide below the hip and pull inward toward the bottom. Diagonal seams run across the panels to guide the fall of the corduroy and keep the baggy shape clean.
• Front pocket depth. We built two deep pockets into the front panels. They sit flat against the hip and hold a phone, keys, and daily items without spilling when you walk.
• Corduroy care. Machine wash cold or hand wash in cold water to protect the ribs of the fabric. Lay the trousers flat in the shade to dry, and avoid bleach.
